The Registrar of a university under the system we operate as the Chief Administrator. In this sense, the Registrar is at the head of a team of administrative staff charged with the implementation of details of policy decisions at various levels of the University especially as coming from council and senate, and or organising the work-a-day life of the entire university. The Registrar who is the Secretary to Council and Senate provides also secretarial cover for the whole range of the universities functions. The status of the University of Calabar states specifically that the Registrar is the Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation and by implication secretary to Committees of these bodies.
